Paul Abbey, MOTR/L, CHT

Owner & Lead Occupational Therapist

Paul Abbey is a licensed occupational therapist/ certified hand therapist. With advanced training in upper extremity rehabilitation and over eight years of experience, he brings a focused, patient-centered approach to care.

Paul earned his Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine from John Brown University. He completed a highly competitive, AOTA-approved hand therapy fellowship, where he developed specialized expertise in treating complex hand, wrist, and elbow conditions.

Throughout his career, Paul has worked across multiple clinical settings, including outpatient orthopedic clinics and skilled nursing facilities. His areas of focus include post-surgical rehabilitation, tendon and nerve injuries, fractures, overuse syndromes, and neurological conditions such as stroke recovery and upper extremity motor retraining.

Paul has presented internationally on interprofessional healthcare in underserved regions and is a former Albert Schweitzer Fellow. He currently organizes the Maine Hand Conference, a monthly meeting for hand therapists and surgeons across the state.
